The coating window opens in two weeks. Here is the plan.

September and October are when coatings and correction actually sell. A four week plan to fill those bays before the weather turns and the phone quiets.

It is the first week of September. The summer rush is thinning out, the heat is starting to break, and in most markets you have about eight good weeks in front of you where the highest-ticket work in this trade is easiest to sell.

Ceramic coating and paint correction sell in the fall for reasons that have nothing to do with marketing. Customers start thinking about salt, sap, rain and winter storage. You finally have the shop hours for a job that occupies a bay for two days. And nobody is asking you to squeeze in a wash before a Saturday barbecue.

Miss the window and you are trying to sell a $1,400 coating in January, when it is 34 degrees and the buyer just paid for Christmas.

Why this is worth reorganizing your month around

Run the arithmetic on your own book. A full detail at $329 that takes five hours bills about $66 an hour. A two-step correction and five-year coating at $1,600 over two days bills about $100 an hour, and the customer who buys it comes back for maintenance work every quarter for years.

Ten coatings between mid-September and mid-November is $14,000 to $16,000 in revenue you cannot get any other month at that rate. Against 73,083 listings in this industry where the median shop carries 24 reviews and 34.3% have no website to explain a coating on, the shops that go after it seriously are not competing with many people.

Week one: build the thing you sell from

You cannot sell a coating from a Google profile and a gallery. You need one page that answers what it is, what it costs, how long it takes and what the warranty covers, in plain sentences.

Write four bands and publish them: one-step correction with a one-year coating from $650, two-step correction with a five-year coating $1,200 to $2,200, partial front paint protection film $1,200 to $2,000, and annual maintenance decontamination $150 to $250. Add a paragraph on what moves a car to the top of the band, which is almost always paint condition rather than size.

Then add the inspection offer, because that is the actual sale: a 20-minute paint inspection where you show the customer the swirls on their own car under a light. Free, or $50 credited to the job. Nobody buys a coating over the phone; they buy it after they see their own hood.

Page structure is covered in the website essentials guide, and the pricing logic in the pricing guide.

Week two: go get your past customers

The cheapest coating you will sell this fall is to somebody whose car you have already detailed. They liked the result, they know your work, and they are the only people on earth who already trust you with a $1,600 decision.

Pull every customer from the last 18 months who bought a full detail on a vehicle under six years old. Text them individually, not as a blast:

"Hey Ryan, we did the 4Runner in April. Before winter I wanted to mention we are booking ceramic coatings through October. It is a two day job and it means salt and sap wipe off instead of etching in. Want me to take a look at the paint? Takes 20 minutes and there is no charge."

Fifty texts like that typically produce eight to twelve inspections and three to five coatings. That is a week's work for one afternoon of texting.

Week three: point the ad money at protection

Move your search budget toward the terms that carry the ticket: ceramic coating, ceramic coating near me, paint correction, swirl removal, graphene coating, paint protection film. Expect $4 to $11 a click and $45 to $120 a lead, which sounds expensive until you weigh it against a $1,600 job. Structure and negatives are in the Google Ads guide.

On social, run the one piece of creative that sells this work: ten seconds of paint under an inspection light with the swirls showing, then the same panel corrected. No music-only edit, no slow-motion foam. The caption says what it was, where, and what it cost. Details in the social ads guide.

Week four: sell the maintenance plan with every coating

The mistake almost everyone makes is treating a coating as a one-time transaction. At the moment the customer hands you $1,600, they are the most receptive they will ever be to a $45 a month maintenance plan for quarterly decontamination washes.

Attach it to every coating quote as part of the package rather than as an upsell afterward. Half of them will take it. Twenty coating customers on maintenance is $900 a month arriving in January, which is the month that decides whether this business is comfortable or stressful.

What to have ready by October 15

  • A coating page with prices, process, warranty and 15 photos of finished cars
  • Online booking with a 25% deposit for coating slots, because two days of shop time is too much to lose to a no-show
  • The past-customer text sent and the inspections booked
  • Ad budget shifted to protection terms
  • A maintenance plan priced and printed on the quote

Then, in November, everything moves to gift cards and pre-holiday interiors, and the coating bays are already full through the end of the year. The month-by-month version of that calendar is in the seasonality guide.

If you want the coating page, the reactivation texts and the ad campaign built and running inside two weeks, that is what the free 14-day trial is for. Text or call (385) 832-6175.
